Lifesong

I had the opportunity last night to be in the car alone and hear Lifesong by Casting Crowns. I've heard it many times, but never took the time to actually listen to what it says.
"Empty Hands held high
Such Small sacrifice
If not joined with my life
I sing in vain tonight"
This brings me to the many times I went to church, lifted my hands, and returned to sin right after service. I would get so caught up in the "moment" or a nice song with a cool rhythm and lyrics. We have all raised our hands high to look "holy" and make others believe we are connected to God, but the truth is that we had never been so far from God. Raising our hands is certainly a way of worship;however, God looks at our hearts. Are they connected to His when we are praising Him? They communicate a sense of freedom, but do we experience the same feeling of freedom to worship God when we are with our non believer friends? "let us lift up our hearts and hands to God in heaven" Lamentations 3:41
"May the words I say
And the things I do
Make my lifesong sing
Bring a smile to you"
This is the next part of the song and possibly the part that made me think the most. As Christians we are in target to get judge pretty easily. Are our actions and words preaching what we believe so strongly? It hasn't been so easy for me to keep a smile on God when He looks at my life, but it wasn't until recently that I did give Him my all and my prayer has been to let Him shine in everything I do and say." the LORD delights in those who fear him, who put their hope in his unfailing love" Psalm 147:11
"Let my lifesong sing to You
Let my lifesong sing to You
I want to sign your name
to the end of this day
Knowing that my heart was true
Let my lifesong sing to You"
We should make this chorus an everyday prayer, to live for Him until the last day and confident to know that our hearts desired to imitate Jesus' purity and compassion. "
"Lord , I give my lifeI seek you with all my heart; do not let me stray from your commands" Psalm 119:10
A Living sacrifice
To reach a world in need
To be your hands and feet"
Probably the hardest thing to do, give our lives to God as a sacrifice and allow Him to use us to reach those in need. We believe that there are better equip individuals, we start comparing ourselves to others until we believe that someone else can do a better job, but God chose you, He chose me to be love and care for others in ways we don't understand, putting our own wanting in last place. "Therefore, I urge you, brothers and sisters, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God—this is your true and proper worship. Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will" Romans 12:1-2
If we want to live a lifesong that puts a smile on God's face we must first give Him all of us. He needs to be what we desired most and give Him the opportunity to use our talents for His kingdom. Our hearts need to resemble that of Jesus'. We are given the opportunity everyday to write our song. What kinda of song are you singing with your life?
"Let the message of Christ dwell among you richly as you teach and admonish one another with all wisdom through psalms, hymns, and songs from the Spirit, singing to God with gratitude in your hearts" Colossians 3:16
